Garrett Higginbotham Named Recipient of Louisiana State Nurses Association’s Region 4 Top 25 “Acadiana Recognizes Nurses” Award

Acadia St. Landry Hospital is proud to announce that Director of Nursing, Garrett Higginbotham, has been honored as a recipient of the Louisiana State Nurses Association (LSNA) Region 4 Top 25 “Acadiana Recognizes Nurses” award. This prestigious recognition celebrates excellence in nursing and highlights individuals who demonstrate outstanding dedication to patient care and community service across the Acadiana region. On Friday, May 2, 2025, Garrett will be honored alongside 24 of his nursing colleagues from region 4 at the 25th Silver Anniversary of the Acadiana Celebrates Nursing Awards, taking place in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Garrett Higginbotham, a seasoned nursing professional with more than a decade of experience in healthcare, has been a cornerstone of Acadia St. Landry Hospital since joining the team in 2015. A 2011 graduate of Church Point High School, Garrett began his nursing journey at South Louisiana Community College, where he earned his Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in 2015 and later completed his Registered Nurse (RN) degree in 2020.

Throughout his career, Garrett has served in multiple departments at Acadia St. Landry Hospital—including swing bed, wound care, and the Emergency Department—gaining well-rounded experience and a deep understanding of patient needs. He also broadened his expertise at Our Lady of Lourdes Emergency Department, where he thrived in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

In 2022, Garrett was appointed Director of Nursing at Acadia St. Landry Hospital. In this leadership role, he has demonstrated a clear commitment to clinical excellence, operational improvement, and compassionate patient care. His ability to lead by example has made a lasting impact on both staff and patients alike.

Garrett resides in Richard, Louisiana, with his fiancé and their three children. His deep roots in the local community and his passion for service continue to drive his commitment to making a difference both at work and at home.
