Acadia St. Landry Hospital and Faith House Join Forces to Raise Awareness for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

Acadia St. Landry Hospital and Faith House, a domestic violence crisis center serving Acadiana, have come together to recognize Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, emphasizing the importance of education and prevention.

Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, observed in February each year, is an opportunity to highlight the prevalence of teen dating violence and promote efforts to support young individuals facing these challenges. By acknowledging this observance, Acadia St. Landry Hospital and Faith House aim to amplify the conversation around teen dating violence, advocate for healthy relationships, and provide essential resources for those impacted by such abuse.

In Louisiana, the statistics concerning teen dating violence are alarming, underscoring the urgency of addressing this issue:

  • According to the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in 3 adolescents      in the United States is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional, or verbal abuse from a dating partner.
  • The Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault reports that nearly 1.5 million high school students across the country experience physical abuse from a dating partner in a single year.

Acadia St. Landry Hospital and Faith House are committed to collaborative efforts that raise awareness, provide support, and promote healthy relationships among young individuals. By partnering to recognize Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, both organizations are dedicated to fostering a community that prioritizes the well-being and safety of teenagers.

Recognizing the need for support and resources to those impacted by teen dating violence, Acadia St. Landry Hospital and Faith House encourage individuals who are facing such challenges to seek help. Both organizations offer a safe space, guidance, and assistance to those affected by teen dating violence.

During Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Acadia St. Landry Hospital and Faith House invite the community to engage in conversations, share information, and show support for teenagers who may be experiencing dating violence. By working together, we can create a safer and more informed environment for young individuals.
